　　茅台(Moutai)是中国最有名的白酒，在新中国成立前夕，被选为国家用酒。

　　据说赤水沿岸的村民四千年前就开始酿造茅台。在西汉时期，那里的人们生产出了高质量的茅台，并把它贡给皇帝。自唐朝开始，这种地方酒通过海上丝绸之路运往海外。

　　茅台味道柔和，有一种特殊的香味，食量饮用可以帮助缓解疲劳，有镇定作用，因而广受国内外消费者的喜爱。

　　Moutai is the most famous liquor in China and was chosen as the national liquor on the eve of the founding of new China. It is said that villagers along Chishui River began to make Moutai 4,000 years ago. In the Western Han Dynasty, those people produced high-quality Moutai and presented it to the emperor as the tribute. Since the Tang Dynasty, this kind of local liquor was shipped overseas by the Maritime Silk Road. Moutai has a soft taste and a special fragrance. Moderate drinking can help people relieve fatigue and achieve a calming effect, so it is widely loved among domestic and foreign consumers.

　　You have to do two things if you are traveling in Beijing: one is climbing the Great Wall and the other is having Beijing Roast Duck. The well-known Beijing Roast Duck used to be exclusive to imperial court, whereas now is supplied in hundreds of restaurants in Beijing. Beijing Roast Duck originated in the Ming Dynasty 600 years ago. Chefs from different parts of the country were selected to cook for the emperor in the capital city. It was believed that cooking skills could be offered this job. As a matter of fact, it was this group of royal chefs who has made the cooking of Beijing Duck increasingly approach perfection.

　　Since then, tea has become popular in China. Tea plantations spread all over the country, tea merchants became rich, and expensive and elegant tea sets became a symbol of social status.

　　Today, tea is not only a healthy drink, but also a integral part of Chinese culture. An increasing number of international tourists begin to appreciate Chinese culture as they drink tea.
