Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay on online dictionaries. You can start your essay with the sentence “Online dictionaries are becoming increasingly popular”. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
【范文】
As the pace of globalization accelerates, the public are endowed with more opportunities to be involved in communications with foreigners, which has bolstered the advancement of online dictionaries.
It is universally acknowledged that online dictionaries bring about great benefits, especially in traveling. A person can simply types in or speaks to those dictionaries directly in their mother tongues and the latter would suggest a few versions of translations. By doing so, a barrier-free atmosphere of communication will be established. Nonetheless, some demerits regarding online dictionaries, particularly the ones developed domestically, are self-evident. For instance, although those dictionaries indeed offer us plentiful synonyms, seldom do them analyse the differences in between those words, as a result of which users might choose an inappropriate word which seems to be accurate. Therefore, further optimization of online dictionaries is needed.
In a nutshell, we should stay critical to online dictionaries so that their advantages can be fully applied.
