　　It is a tradition for Chinese people to have the reunion meal on the eve of the Spring Festival, which is the most significant dinner in a year and the best occasion for family reunion, especially for families whose members live in different regions. There are various dishes at the reunion dinner, some of which have special meanings. For instance, fish is an indispensable dish because of the same sound of the Chinese character “fish” and “surplus”. In many places of China, dumpling is also an important dish in that it is a symbol of fortune and good luck.
