In recent years, we have experienced great changes in the way of communication. A recent study in a certain community shows that over 70% of senior citizens, over the age of 60, have used one or more social media in their daily life. It would be impossible to imagine back to ten years ago. Why such changes occur?
Two reasons can account for above-mentioned phenomenon. To begin with, with the advancement and progress made in communication technologies, we have more access to such mass media. People of all age brackets are able to master the basics of using them. Moreover, as we all know, we live in an era full of influences of mass media. Compared with traditional way of communication, new social media such as social websites, Microblog, WeChat and podcasts has played an increasingly important role in our life. People can seek knowledge, make a purchase, consult for professional workout, make connection with their family and friends and so on via such social media. Such various functions make people more inclined to use them often.
To sum up, the development of communication technologies and different kinds of functions of social media make great changes with regard to way of communication.
