　　Directions: Suppose your school is organizing an orientation program to help the freshmen adapt to the new environment and academic studies. You are now to write a proposal, which may include its aim, duration, participants and activities. You will have 30 minutes to write the proposal. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.

　　To whom it may concern,

　　On behalf of the Students’ Union, I am writing to make a proposal for the orientation program. In order to help the freshmen adapt to the new environment and academic studies, I suggest that the program should start at the beginning of the new semester and last for one week.

　　To be specific, the program will initiate on September 10, 2022. Besides the principals, deans and faculties of every department, all the newly enrolled freshmen are in the invitation list. To assist newcomers to understand the university life in advance, the following activities will be organized. Firstly, a host will introduce the layout of the school enviroment, presenting the exact location and function of every building in a concise expression style. Secondly, the dean of each department will introduce certain required courses for different majors, and explain the level that students should achieve in academic performance. On the occasion, there will be volunteers guiding new students and distributing souvenirs on campus.
