Part I 写作
Directions: Suppose it is proposed that university students should be required to participate in at least one research project. You are now to write a response by stating what you think of the proposal in terms of its necessity and practicality. you will have 30 minutes to write the essay. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
Nowadays, research ability is increasingly valued in higher education. Some people propose that university students should be required to take part in at least one research project. From my perspective, this proposal has its necessity in terms of ability cultivation, but its practicality remains questionable.
For one thing, the requirement is necessary. Research projects enable students to apply theoretical knowledge to real problems, which helps develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These abilities will benefit them a lot in future job hunting or further study. For another, its practicality is not ideal. Not all students are interested in or suitable for academic research. Forcing them to participate may lead to perfunctory work. Besides, limited faculty and resources can hardly support high-quality guidance for every student.
To sum up, it is more advisable to encourage rather than require students to join research projects. Universities can provide more accessible research opportunities for those who are willing to explore academic fields.
Directions: Suppose the university newspaper is inviting submissions from the students for its coming edition on future applications of robots on campus. You are now to write an essay for submission. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
本题有两个核心限定词必须全程紧扣:一是 future applications(未来应用),二是 on campus(校园场景,不能拓展到家庭、工业、医疗等非校园领域)。
Nowadays, robotic technology is developing rapidly, and its future applications on campus have drawn wide attention. As a student submitting an essay to the university newspaper, I believe robots will bring great convenience to both study and daily life on campus in the near future.
First, in academic scenarios, smart robots in the library can help students quickly locate books and answer basic learning inquiries, greatly improving self-study efficiency. Second, in daily life, delivery robots can transport meals and parcels to dormitory buildings, saving students much time on the road. Besides, 24-hour patrol robots can strengthen campus safety and reduce the burden of security staff.
To sum up, the wide use of robots on campus is an irresistible trend. With proper arrangement, these intelligent helpers will build a more efficient and comfortable campus for all teachers and students.
Directions: suppose you are invited to put forward a proposal to the university on how to make students ' campus life easier, you are now to write an essay to make your proposal. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
同时建议对象是“university(校方)”, 不应向学生提建议。
Nowadays, many university students feel troubled by various trivial matters in their daily campus
life. To help students enjoy a more convenient and comfortable campus experience, I would like to put forward several practical proposals to the university.
First, the university can integrate all campus services, including course selection, dorm
maintenance and fee payment, into one unified online platform, saving students from running
between different offices and websites. Besides, extending the opening hours of campus canteens and self-study rooms can better fit students ’ various schedules. Moreover, adding more self-
service printers and drinking fountains in teaching buildings will also bring great convenience.
To sum up, small improvements in daily services can greatly improve the quality of students ’ campus life. I sincerely hope the university will consider these proposals and help build a more student-friendly campus.
